These walks explore the beautiful Nadder Valley around Chicksgrove, with route options ranging from easy village loops to longer countryside adventures through the surrounding hills and farmland.

The scenery is varied throughout, combining open views, quiet woodland, riverside stretches and some fascinating local history.

Depending on the route, the walks visit places such as Sutton Mandeville, Teffont Evias and the Iron Age earthworks at Castle Ditches, while all four routes make the most of the valley’s peaceful rural character.

The Compasses Inn in Lower Chicksgrove provides a welcoming place to eat or drink before or after the walks.

There are plenty of wonderful walks to choose from around Chicksgrove as it's located in the wonderful Nadder Valley.

This shortest route is a casual family friendly countryside loop between the villages of Chicksgrove and Sutton Mandeville.

There's a lovely pub in Chicksgrove to make this a pub walk if required and the walk briefly tracks the River Nadder itself.

Great little walk. The second half is more enjoyable due to the track rather than through farmers fields.

The first half was very enjoyable and relaxing. Second half consisted of numerous wobbly stiles without any access for our labretriever who ended up struggling over the top of several with our help. Then we met a lady walking two sheep on a lead! Quite the adventure!

This alternative short and casual walk heads west from the village of Chicksgrove in the Nadder Valley.

The walk takes you on a loop around some pretty countryside with great views, and also has a section of walking through some nice woodland to add variety to the walk.

Lovely walk in tranquil countryside. Several stiles that we had to lift dogs over, otherwise very good paths. Quite a few cows and sheep so a fair bit of dog on lead required. Pub is really pretty.

This walk is an extension of the second route that heads out west from the village of Chicksgrove in the Nadder Valley.

It doesn't add a lot of distance to the walk, but it does add a moderate climb as it takes you up and around the Castle Ditches Iron Age hill fort.

Enjoyable walk with one short steep climb. Could be overgrown in a couple of places but mainly easy to walk. One or two stiles quite high and without gps could be confusing on some of the path junctions but completed in two and a quarter hours with a nice stop and the compass pub is lovely.

A lovely walk with lots of contrasting scenery. We did find one section a little tricky to negotiate as the signs and stiles were difficult to spot. A couple of the stiles were quite challenging for short people! It took us two and a quarter hours. Would definitely recommend but do keep an eye on the route.

This is 5.8 miles according to apple health app it definitely took longer than two hours. There was one section where the path was very overgrown with nettles for a good ten minutes walking or so which made it difficult to get through and my daughter got stung on the way. The walk was enjoyable but I wish the timing was more accurate so we knew what to expect. There were lots of styles to climb. The children were definitely flagging by the end, I think we all were!......It’s quite a complex route so you need to keep a very careful eye on the GPS map at all times. It was muddy at times so you definitely need wellies or walking boots.

The final and longest route from Chicksgrove in the Nadder Valley is an alternative circular route that heads out to the north of the village.

You can expect plenty of fresh air and lovely views as the walk takes you on a beautiful adventure through undulating countryside and visits the charming village of Teffont Evias with it's pretty church.

There is a small amount of road walking on this route and a lovely pub in Chicksgrove.
