Tollard Royal Walks & Route Maps

This short circular walk explores the charming village of Tollard Royal and the surrounding parkland of Rushmore.

The moderate climb leads onto higher ground, where broad views open out across the surrounding downs, making the outing feel bigger than its distance suggests.

The King John Inn, Tollard Royal

This longer circular walk from Tollard Royal heads out into the rolling countryside towards Ashcombe Bottom, bringing a more strenuous feel with plenty of hills along the way.

The higher ground offers wide views across the surrounding landscape, making the climbs worthwhile and giving the walk a real sense of space.

Back in the village, the pub provides a welcome place to rest after a proper countryside outing.

This is our longest adventure from Tollard Royal and it is a varied countryside walk that explores the rolling parkland and hills of Rushmore.

It also includes a lengthy stretch through the wooded scenery of the Chase, adding shade and a quieter, more enclosed feel to the outing.

Altogether, it’s a rewarding long walk with a good mix of open hills and woodland, finishing back in the characterful village.
