Amesbury walk 01
This short route around Bonnymead Park offers a relaxed stroll through green open spaces on the edge of Amesbury town.
The paths circle the park’s lawns and trees, with a pleasant stretch beside the gently flowing River Avon, adding a peaceful riverside feel to the outing.
It’s an easy, compact walk with a calm atmosphere, ideal for a quick leg-stretch or a quiet break close to the water.

First-hand experiences
Two stiles that are swing gates plus two bridges. First swing gate and bridge accessible by buggy, second bridge and gate required full dismantle of pram and reassemble. Not great for a “buggy friendly†route.
It was quite a busy route as it was a lovely sunny day. Great walk for little legs.
Amesbury walk 02
This slightly longer route from Bonnymead Park also stretches out into the surrounding countryside while still enjoying peaceful sections beside the River Avon.
It’s a pleasant walk that balances green parkland, flowing water and quiet countryside in one easy outing. With gentle terrain and open scenery, it makes a relaxed walk for a steady hour or two close to Amesbury.

A nice walk but a muddy quagmire after heavy rain in February. Wellies are absolutely essential for this one.
(walked on a Wednesday morning) Extremely quiet, only saw a couple of dogs on the very first part of the walk. Paths were pretty clear but can see in winter/wet weather some of them may get very muddy!
Sections where dogs have to be kept on the lead.
A lot of the way is a nice track but not many viewpoints....
Great walk. Really peaceful along the middle third. Nice to spot some owl boxes and the interesting chalk quarry. Thanks
A very pleasant walk on a breezy Saturday! Nice stretches of river and some open countryside. The car park was very busy because of a football match!
A lovely family walk
Easy to follow, only one uphill stretch, it was underwhelming and I wouldn’t bother to do this walk again. There are prettier walks on this app.
