Cuckmere Haven Walks & Route Maps

Our first route is a short walk along the dramatic edge of Seaford Head.

It passes the distinctive Seaford DVOR Aircraft Beacon before joining a stretch of the Vanguard Way as it nears the coast.

Hope Gap offers a closer look at the chalk cliffs, while Seaford Head Nature Reserve opens into wide grassland with expansive sea views.

South Hill marks the beginning of the Seven Sisters ridge.

The route finishes near South Barn Café.

The second, longer walk stretches the route into a broader coastal and valley circuit.

It begins by taking you past the Seaford DVOR Aircraft Beacon, whose circular array stands out against the clifftop, before following part of the long-distance Vanguard Way.

Hope Gap and Seaford Head Nature Reserve frame the classic white chalk coastline, with open downland and wide sea views.

The landscape then shifts beside the Cuckmere River, where looping meanders cut across the floodplain on their way to the Channel.

A short detour is shown on the map, taking you to the Cuckmere Inn if you want refreshments part way through this longer walk.

The route rises back towards South Hill and the South Barn Café is at the end (or start) of the route.
