The walk
Aston Marina Walk
We don't normally feature linear walks on the app, but this is a lovely walk that takes you on a nice walk up and down a pretty stretch of the Trent & Mersea canal.
The added benefit of this route is the great restaurant and bar to enjoy before or after your walk in Aston Marina itself, and then another pub in Burston half way along your there-and-back canal-side adventure.

What a shame, unfortunately we hit a dead end when we were about 2 miles in. The canal that you have to cross was inaccessible due the bridge/tree falling into the water. We tried to find alternatives but had to turn back. The walk up until this point was lovely, would try again once the bridge is repaired.

The bridge half way around was out of use due to a fallen tree, so we had to turn back around.

Nice walk, not much shelter note you have to walk through the pub at the start

First part of the walk along the canal is very pleasant, we saw swans, geese, ducks, cows, sheep and lapwings. Then through open fields which is very quiet, but exposed to the sun on a hot day. Through the village and down the little path towards the river and canal, be sure to throw the ball for the black dog on the left.

Very difficult with a pushchair - definitely wear baby carrier if you’re walking with family!
