This route starts in the village of Milton-under-Wychwoood and travels through lovely countryside to the quiet unspoilt Cotswold village of Fifield.

From here the walk travels along the D'Arcy Dalton Way to the wonderful Foxholes Nature Reserve.

The reserve is a delight at any time of year but particularly in Spring for the spectacular display of Bluebells, and there are some pub options in the village.

Walker review

Lovely walk but 90% of it was wet and muddy (February 2024). As you look at the map, walking the route clockwise from the start point involves more uphill and the pub will be at the end of the walk. 2 stiles which were tricky with a large breed dog, but there is a gap in the fence. Looking forward to going back late spring / early summer to see the wildflowers in the forest areas. The route was spot on and easy to follow.

Great scenery but very very muddy in parts. Would be perfect for dogs but there was one stile which wasn’t dog friendly so I had quite a challenge getting my labrador over it!

Sadly due to Ash Die back, a number of paths within Foxholes are shut - this doesn’t impact the path the walk guides you to but limits the ability to have a wander through the woods

This second route is basically a simple extension to the first route that still enjoys all the lovely countryside, the woodland of Foxholes and the villages of Milton-under-Wychwood and Fifield.

However, this route heads further west and also visits the village of Idbury with it's pretty church.

There are pubs to enjoy on the Milton-under-Wychwood high street.
