This route takes you across open fields and farmland and along the peaceful roads and lanes that run through the village. There is a lovely pub for refreshments in the village.

This longer route option heads further southeast from the village and it is a lovely walk with open countryside, woodlands walking, and a visit to the hamlet of Wilcote.
The pretty village of Finstock then provides a great pub for post-walk refreshments.

Be great if the routes could mention obvious first steps…here it is take the path to the right of the pub (hard to face the right way in an app that doesn’t zoom with a pulling dog!). Most of this route is really beautiful
Some of the stretches through the woodlands were very muddy and slippy despite a few warm days without rain. Otherwise a lovely walk.

This is a much longer walk from the pretty village of Finstock and has a few hills which makes it a bit of a challenge.
However, if you take your time this walk will give you plenty of variety and lovely views to enjoy along the way. The walk firstly travels along the Evenlode River Valley and onto the vibrant yet picturesque town of Charlbury where you will find friendly pubs.
From there you will walk through delightful open countryside and then into the enchanting Wychwood Forest.
Back in Finstock you can take a well deserved rest after your epic journey. Enjoy a drink and food at The Plough Inn, a quintessential thatched pub dating back to 1772. Bliss!

Lovely long walk, nice views and nice pub. Can be done from Charlbury too where there is more parking options
Wonderful walk. Anticlockwise there are some fairly punishing acsents as you get back to Finstock, but I think its the nicer way to go round as there are some really lovely woodland paths on the second half. Some gravelly paths, so a bit hard going in places, together with just a little amount of road walking. But the off-road bits are wonderful. If you do go anticlockwise, the start is up Dark Lane. Tuck your car in if you park on the road in Finstock, its a very busy little village, on a bus route!
