Cobham Wood Walks & Route Maps

This short walk explores the heart of Cobham’s historic parkland, where grand architecture and quiet woodland come together.

The route begins by passing Cobham Hall, a Tudor mansion later reshaped with classical grandeur, still surrounded by the sweeping grounds once refined by Humphry Repton.

From here the trail leads into Cobham Wood, a calm stretch of trees alive with seasonal colour and birdsong.

A gentle route with a mix of open views and shaded paths, it offers a compact taste of history and landscape in one.

This longer route weaves together history, woodland and open countryside for a more varied adventure.

It begins at Cobham Hall, a Tudor and Georgian mansion set within landscaped parkland, before moving into the quiet woods where the grand Darnley Mausoleum rises above the trees.

The path then opens out onto the meadows and chalk grassland of Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve, managed by Plantlife and known for its colourful displays of orchids and summer wildflowers. Butterflies and birds can sometimes be spotted here, adding to the sense of seasonal change.

Finally, the walk links with the North Downs Way, part of the famous National Trail that follows sweeping chalk ridges and offers wide views across the Kent countryside.
