If you’d like to go further, the longer of the walks extends the rural section along the Essex Way towards Great Waltham, offering extra miles and even more countryside views while still enjoying the highlights of Pleshey itself.

Parking is often available at the village hall, though roadside spaces in the village provide a useful alternative if needed.

This is a lovely short family-friendly pub walk around the pretty village of Pleshey.

One half of the walk is a simple loop through open farmland for fresh air and leg stretching before the second half of the walk which is a stroll through the village itself with it's pub, pond and the remains of it's famous motte and bailey castle.

Please note, the village hall has said it's fine to park there, but sometimes the gates are locked or they have a private function - in this case, you can park roadside in the village.

Walker review

Pleasant walk exploring Pleshey. Tried to extend by taking the footpath arround the east side of the village but a little too overgrown.

This second route is a longer extension of the village walk which still enjoys the village and it's motte and bailey castle, but this version extends the countryside element of the walk.

The extra distance takes you much further along the Essex way towards Great Waltham and you can expect much more fresh air and exercise on this longer route.

Enjoyed this route. Walked in heatwave of August 26. Time of year meant everything was dry and crisp. But enjoyable all the same. Seemed quite a popular route with locals. Pleshey village very pretty. If you have a dog with you please remember to pick up after them as we saw quite a bit of mess.

Lovely walk to do with the dogs, thoroughly enjoyed! The Beehive pub was closed when we went, so we detoured to The Rose

We went with the dogs at the end of March. Unfortunately there were a lot of farm bird scarers which frightened one of our dogs. So if you have a dog that doesnt like bangs dont go whilst the crops are growing

Really lovely walk and Pleshey is beautiful.

Great walk , very picturesque. We had a dry sunny day but some paths muddy so be aware if its wet. Pheasant shoot taking part in some fields , didn't cause us any problems, everyone friendly . We didnt go in The Pub today but will definitely go back and visit . No toilets on route .
