Derbyshire Walks
Starting from the historic town of Bolsover, these walks offer a choice of gentle nature reserve paths or longer countryside adventures with rewarding views.
All three routes include a wander around Peter Fidler Nature Reserve, where woodland and waterside trails provide an easy, family-friendly introduction.
The longer of the walks head out across open farmland, climbing towards the striking ruins of Sutton Scarsdale Hall for sweeping views, while the most extensive option also takes in the impressive Bolsover Castle before returning through the town.
Whether you’re after a short stroll or a full day out with hills and heritage, these walks showcase the varied countryside around Bolsover beautifully.

The first route option is a nice short family-friendly stroll around the pretty Peter Fidler Nature Reserve.
There are elements of waterside and woodland walking to enjoy on this route.

If you want to stretch your legs a bit more, then this second route takes you on a longer and more strenuous adventure.
It still enjoys the nature reserve, but then takes you out into open countryside before crossing the M1 and then climbing up the long hill towards Sutton Scarsdale Hall where you'll enjoy some lovely views before working your way back down the hill through more countryside.

The final route is the ultimate walk that explores all of this area of countryside around Bolsolver.
Like the first two routes, it enjoys the nature reserve and the pretty climb up and down the long hill to Sutton Scarsdale Hall for the views.
However, after that it takes you on a walk back up towards the impressive Bolsover Castle and then on a stroll through the town of Bolsover itself where you'll discover a number of pubs and refreshments options making this the complete varied option if you have the time and energy.

Unfortunately some of the paths were quite overgrown and also felt bad for walking over 2 farmers fields as there was not a proper path on them.
