This short route explores the riverside setting of Lechlade.

Walker review

Nice easy walk. Quite an expensive car park (£2.70 for 3 hours in August 2024). ...If you’d prefer a pub stop towards the end of the walk, then go left after the link to the circular part of the route; if you want to visit the pub at the start, then turn right. ...Main spoiler was the terrible amount of rubbish overflowing from the bins on some parts of the route. ...Not many (if any) places to permissably let a dog off of the lead.

This longer route around Lechlade enjoys even more of the peaceful River Thames, with extended stretches of easy riverside walking and open meadow views.

The gentle towpaths and quiet surroundings give the walk a relaxed, unhurried feel, perfect for a sociable outing.

It wanders through the attractive Cotswold streets of the village with it's popular waterside pub, but as a bonus this route also includes another lovely riverside pub along the way making it a great summer's day out.

Walker review

Nice and flat, a bit soft under foot in places but doable. Quite a bit of open pasture land next to the Thames so one to bear in mind on a hot day if you like shade! We didn’t stop at any of the pubs but there are plenty of other eateries/cafes in Lechlade itself, which this walk takes you through. Some road walking where there’s no pavement over the bridge by The Trout pub. Although it’s flat and there aren’t any stiles, there are a lot of gates and a few steps onto bridges so not buggy or wheelchair-friendly. Dogs are supposed to be on a lead asking the Thames although there was no livestock when we went.

Wonderful walk and very beautiful river views. Apart from a short cross the bridge on the road - walk was easy and off road. Beautiful village and all year round open Christmas shop on the route.

Fantastic walk. The morning is a good time in the summer holidays, as this is a very popular place for visitors. Only tricky part was negotiating the traffic over the bridge at the lock. No footpath. Other than that it was a very picturesque and interesting walk.
