Box Hill Walks and Map

Box Hill is a beautiful area of countryside in Surrey and we have four walks varying in length and terrain. We include a lovely stepping stones walk across the River Mole and a short walk to the Box Hill Memorial.

Enjoy looking for the Adonis blue butterfly and the bee orchid along your route and soak in the stunning views, stop off at a cafe or pub along one of our routes and make a day of it! Download the Surrey Walks app to see your position on the Box Hill map as you walk.

Box Hill Salomans Memorial walk
0.5 miles

The first route option is not a 'walk' as such. It's more of a quick circular stroll to the majestic Salomans Memorial viewpoint on Box Hill.

Box Hill Nature Play Trail walk
1.75 miles

The second option is a lovely short family-friendly walk that all ages can enjoy. The walk takes you on the short loop to the Memorial viewpoint like the first route, but then it heads up into the woodlands of the Box Hill Country Park and enjoys the 'Nature Play Trail' route.

Box Hill and the stepping stones
3 miles

The third route is a slightly longer walk where things get a little bit more strenuous and adventurous. The walk also enjoys the Salomons Memorial viewpoint and the Nature Play Trail, but then it heads off on a hilly adventure towards the River Mole where you'll eventually find the stepping stones across the river. You don't have to actually cross the river on the stones as part of the route, but the kids will no doubt want to play here for a while. The hills on the route are very steep though at times, so it might not be suitable for some walkers. There is also a cafe about half way around the route for refreshments if you need! Refreshments: Rykas Cafe, Old London Road

Box Hill and Mickleham walk
8 miles

The final route option is for the more serious walkers who really want to stretch their legs and explore as much of the Box Hill Country Park as they can in one walk. The walk starts by taking you to the lovely viewpoint at the Salomons Memorial viewpoint, and then after that you head off on a long and very hilly walk around the hills and woodlands of Box Hill, passing through Headley Heath as you go and enjoying the viewpoints there. The walk also calls into the village of Mickleham about two thirds of the way around the adventure and you'll find a lovely pub there for well earned refreshments. Refreshments: The King William IV, Mickleham The Running Horses, Mickleham
