Dunster Walks & Route Maps

A short stroll around Dunster Castle and Dunster's pretty High street. The walk will take you around the outside of the castle however you will pass the ticket office if you wish to buy a ticket to enter the castle and grounds.

The walk will then take you around the small town where you can explore the historic market places and stop for refreshments at the local pubs and cafés. There is some road walking through the town.

This walk follows the same path as our shortest Dunster walk however we have added a small extension for those who want to see Conygar Tower, a three storey sandstone tower built in 1775.

The walk up to the tower is quite steep however the views are worth it. This walk still passes the castle entrance if you wish to buy a ticket and you can stop at the cafés and restaurants in the High Street for refreshments.

There is some road walking.

This walk follows the two shorter Dunster walks around the castle however we have added a slightly bigger woodland extension to this walk.

This walk goes through a scenic woodland westerly of the Castle for those who want a slightly longer leg stretch.

The walk still takes you pass the entrance of the castle and you will be able to stop for refreshments in the high street in pubs and cafés. There is some road walking.

This is our longest walk from this location in the pretty town of Dunster and it starts in the High Street where you can explore the old town.

You then walk past Dunster castle which overlooks Somerset's coastline. You will pass the ticket office if you wish to pay to enter the Castle.

The walk takes you through woodlands to the ruins of Bat's Castle, an iron age hill fort, from here you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Bristol Channel and Exmoor.

The walk heads back to the town across woodland and fields. You can then finish up in Dunster's High Street for some refreshments.
