Oxfordshire walks - Great Tew

This first route from the wonderful village of Great Tew is a simple stroll around the outskirts of the Great Tew Park.

You can expect some lovely scenery as you walk through this countryside and a perfect pub and tea room in the village itself to make this a nice day out.

There is a fairly long section of road walking along a quiet lane on this route.

This next route option from the lovely village of Great Tew is a circular walk that heads south from the village on an adventure through the pretty open countryside of the estate and also visits the delightful village of Little Tew.

There is also a lovely pub and tea room on the route in the village, if you want to make this a wonderful family day out and please be aware of a few short sections of walking along a quiet lane on this route.

The third route option instead heads north from the village on a route known locally as the 'Golden Valley Walk'.

You can expect more open countryside and fresh air on this walk and delightful far reaching views. As with the first option, this route passes the lovely pub and tea room in the village itself.

There are some short stretches of quiet lane walking on this route.

This final route is the choice for you if you have more time to explore this lovely area of Oxfordshire.

It basically joins the second the third route together to create an epic adventure in the countryside around the Tews, of course, followed up by well-earned refreshments in the pub or tea rooms.

As with the other routers from Great Tew, there are some short sections of quiet lane walking on this route.

This is a beast of a walk with lots of ups and downs, but well worth the effort. Explore the enchanting Oxfordshire countryside on a delightful walk that passes through three picturesque villages with a charming rustic feel.

Starting from Great Tew, a charming village where you can take a break to admire the ivy-covered Falkland Arms pub and the pretty thatched shop and post office.

You will travel on to the pretty villages of Little Tew and Swerford and from there an uphill meadow path rewards you with some splendid views.

The route passes through patchwork fields, streams and woods, offering constant delight throughout the year. There is a very small amount of country road walking.

For refreshments there is a pub at the village of South Newington and The Falkland Arms or the wonderful Quince and Clover Cafe at Great Tew.
