Lilley Walks & Route Maps

This first route option is a short pub walk from the village of Lilley. It's not a long walk, but there is a fair amount of climbing as you walk up the rather steep hill towards a section of woodland on Lilley Hoo.

You'll then descend down Lilleyhoo Lane for a while, before then climbing back over the hill again as you loop around and back to the village. It's a lot of exercise, but you'll have some nice views and there is a lovely pub at the end of the walk for a post-exercise reward.

This second route option is basically an extension to the first route that ventures further north from Lilley before climbing up onto Lilley Hoo and then looping back towards the village.

The third option from Lilley heads in the opposite direction to the first two walks and this offers a lovely undulating walk without too much of the steep hill climbing. (although there still is a long gentle ascent in the first half of the walk.)

It heads out west from Lilley, climbing Wardswood Lane and then the John Bunyan Trail before joining the Chiltern way to loop back to the start via Whitehill Farm and Lilleypark Wood. The efforts of the walk can then be rewarded at the great pub back in the village.

The residents of Lilley are very lucky to have so much lovely walking around them, and this fourth walk doesn't disappoint.

In essence it's an extension of the third walk that heads north out of the village through peaceful countryside and along the John Bunyan Trail until it meets the Icknield Way Trail.

You then climb steadily up to the top of Telegraph Hill where you'll enjoy some lovely views before heading back towards Lilley along the top of Lilley Hoo.

This fifth option is an extension of the third walk that heads to the west out of the village enjoying the Chiltern Way and the John Bunyan Trail.

This route however adds some extra distance, and definitely some extra exercise, by taking you up and over the steep peaks of Warden Hill and Galley Hill about half way around the walk.

This sixth option is basically a combination of the other walks to the west and north of Lilley and it offers a much longer walk option without too much climbing.

That said, there are still some mild climbs as this is a hilly area, but it's as flat as we could make it for a long walk in this lovely area of countryside.

As with all the other routes, there is a lovely pub at the end in the village of Lilley for refreshments after your walk.

This final route option is basically the ultimate epic adventure walk that fully explores this beautiful area of hilly countryside.

Be prepared for a workout as this long route takes you to the summits of Warden Hill, Galley Hill, Telegraph Hill and over the top of Lilley Hoo as you go.

Of course, you'll be rewarded for your efforts with some wonderful views at times and also a perfect country pub at the end of your adventure.
