Bourton-on-the-Water Walk with Pubs and Map

The walk starts in the car park near the Birdland Park and Gardens in the pretty Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water with it's bustling high street full of pubs, cafes, shops and attractions.

If you are walking anti-clockwise following the river, you will pass the Kingsbridge riverside pub, followed by The Wellington pub a bit further along. The walk then takes you out towards the peaceful open countryside where you will continue to follow the River Windrush. Along the route you will pass the scenic village of Lower Slaughter nestled on the River Eye with its honey coloured stone houses, Old Mill and yet another wonderful pub! You then head back across open countryside to Bourton-on-the-Water, past The Mousetrap pub and the pretty church of St Lawrence before reaching the high street. Finally you will walk past The Old New Inn where you have a pub and the famous Model Village. Please be aware there is some road walking and part of the walk crosses a busy road so be careful.

The Kingsbridge is a riverside pub, overlooking the River Windrush in the middle of the village. It has a lovely beer garden overlooking the water and serves a range of good food, beers, ciders and other delicious drinks.

The Old New Inn offers a great selection of sustainably sourced food along with good beers and wines. It also has rooms if you fancy staying over and has the famous Model Village, which is a replica of the Bourton-on-the-Water village itself, in the grounds of the pub.

The Slaughters Country Inn is a wonderful traditional Cotswold village pub with good food, local drinks and afternoon teas. It’s located in the pretty village of Lower Slaughter and well worth the visit on your pub walk.

This flat countryside walk starts right in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water. While most people stick to the village, heading out into the surrounding countryside is well worth it.

You'll wander through peaceful meadows, past streams and through the pretty village of Wyck Rissington. It's a lovely little escape from the crowds and you'll enjoy classic Cotswold views all the way. It's a great way to see a more relaxed side of the area.
