These walks climb into the high ground above the Hope Valley in the Peak District, linking steep ascents with one of the most famous ridge lines in the area.

Both routes take in Lose Hill before returning to the valley, while the longer walk continues along the Great Ridge to Hollins Cross and Back Tor, passing through Brocker Booth Plantation before dropping back down towards Hope and its nearby refreshment options.

This short but strenuous Peak District walk heads up to Lose Hill, a prominent summit at the eastern end of the Great Ridge above the village of Hope.

After taking in the breathtaking views, you'll then descend back down into the valley, enjoying lots of pretty countryside as you go.

The Losehill Hotel & Spa sits nearby if you want to stay overnight and enjoy these walks at a leisurely pace, while the Cheshire Cheese in Hope pub offers another stop option after the climb.

This longer route option enjoys everything from the first route, but then also stretches further along the famous Great Ridge above the Hope Valley, giving you wonderful views across the peaks as you go.

Along the ridge, Hollins Cross marks a historic crossing point between valleys, while Back Tor stands as the highest point on the ridge. You'll also visit a small patch of woodland adding a bit of variety to the walk.

Once you've descended back into the valley, refreshments can be found at the Cheshire Cheese in Hope that you passed at the start of the walk. Alternatively, you can also pop into the Losehilll Hotel & Spa for refreshments in a beautiful setting before tackling the big climb up Lose Hill.

To complete route 2 you will require a certain level of fitness due to many steep hills, the views are wonderful though and enjoyed a lovely pint at the end in woodroffe arms
