Rudgwick Walks & Route Maps

This route takes in the quieter, historic woodlands of the Low Weald.

Gravatt’s and Greathouse Hangar Woods feature steep slopes and dense tree cover, sheltering native plants and wildlife.

The trail follows parts of the Downs Link path, opening brief views across fields while maintaining a woodland-dominated feel.

Godley’s Copse completes the route, offering a small, tranquil woodland space that reflects the long-established wooded character of West Sussex.

The longer Rudgwick route explores a wider mix of woodlands, water, and countryside.

Alongside Gravatt’s and Greathouse Hangar Woods, the walk passes Roman Woods and the historic Site of Ironworks, hinting at the area’s industrial past.

Furnace Lake adds a peaceful water feature, while the Downs Link path connects stretches of open countryside, giving a sense of space beyond the trees.
