Essex Walks
These walks from the charming village of Clavering in Essex offer a refreshing escape into open countryside and farmed fields.
The shorter route is a gentle ramble with an optional detour to visit the delightful church in Rickling, while the longer walk ventures further north to Arkesden, then loops through Wicken Bonhunt and Rickling, with plenty of countryside to enjoy along the way.
Along the longer route, you can pause for a drink at The Axe and Compasses before finishing back in Clavering for a well-earned refreshment at The Fox and Hounds.

This first walk is a simple countryside ramble from the village of Clavering.
You'll basically enjoy lots of fresh air and walking around farmed fields, with an optional detour to visit the pretty church in Rickling.
The distance is just enough to work up a bit of an appetite for your reward back at the pub in Clavering.

This second walk is a much longer ramble in the countryside and farmed lands around the village of Clavering.
You'll first head off to the north until you reach the village of Arkesden, where you'll find a nice pub for a quick pit stop if required.
You'll then embark on a big loop of countryside walking that takes you through the village of Wicken Bonhunt, and then onto another small hamlet called Rickling where you'll visit a pretty church.
Finally, you'll head back towards Clavering where you'll find a welcoming pub for post-walk refreshments.
This walk is quite exposed to the elements and hasn't got a lot of shade, so please be aware of this on hot days.
