Calke Park Walk & Route Map
This walk is a short and scenic circuit through the beautiful Calke Abbey estate, following stretches of the National Forest Way.
This walk wanders through Serpentine Wood and the tranquil Calke Park National Nature Reserve, with veteran trees, ponds and spectacular bluebells in spring - please keep to marked paths to help protect this special habitat.

The walk
Calke Park Walk
This is short and easy walk which is really quite beautiful and has it all - the beautiful Calke Abbey Estate (owned by The National Trust), pretty Serpentine Wood, waterside paths and the wonderful Calke Park National Nature Reserve.
The walk travels along the National Forest Way for a lot of the walk and the tranquil paths through the Nature Reserve are particularly delightful. It is a rich and varied landscape of grassland, wood pasture and ponds – one of the rarest habitats in Europe.
There are also some majestic veteran trees. In the Spring there are magnificent displays of Bluebells to enjoy on this walk. Refreshments are available at the nearby village of Ticknall (not on the walk.)
Please note: This walk is through a National Nature Reserve. Please make sure you keep to the tracks and paths to avoid trampling and damaging the woodland habitat.

Lovely walk for all ages. A lot of it was accessible but not quite all. However, lots of disabled friendly walks around Calke which you could take advantage of.

Great walk to do before viewing the Abby (house). Gives a superb appreciation of the grounds and the bird life is amazing. Lovely stretch along the reservoir.
