Ranscombe Forest Walks & Route Maps

This is the shortest of three walks we have from this location, making it perfect if you are short on time, want to enjoy the outdoors with a picnic, or prefer a manageable distance for children.

The Great Wood and Ramscombe area in the Quantock Hills offers a peaceful, short circular walk through beautiful woodlands.

Starting at the Ramscombe picnic area, the well-maintained trail winds through a mix of towering conifers and broadleaf trees.

It's an easy, family-friendly walk with chances to spot wildlife like deer and birds with the Ramscombe Stream adding a bit of atmosphere along the way.

The Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is a stunning and diverse landscape located in Somerset and this walk is a beautiful example with its wooded combes filled with ancient oaks.

Plenty of areas to picnic and enjoy the Great Wood and it's trails as you wind through the woods.

The longest of our three walks, features mixed woodlands with some steep ascents.

The well marked tracks make it easier to walk and the route offers a beautiful and varied walk that combines serene woodlands, open heathland, and historical sites like Dead Woman's Ditch, an ancient earthwork with historical significance and a touch of mystery.

You are rewarded with views of the Quantock Hills and glimpses of the Bristol Channel, making this an engaging walk for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
