Binfield Heath Walks & Route Maps

This is a lovely short and easy walk along country lanes, over farmland and through woodlands. It's a nice walk to do at any time of year but particularly lovely late Spring when the bluebells are around.

It is the perfect length to combine with a lunch before or after the walk. There is Orwells Gastropub with a garden close to the route on Shiplake Row or a short distance away north of the village is the Bottle & Glass Pub.

This easy but delightful walk explores the countryside around the village of Binfield Heath. It explores paths over farmland, through beautiful woodlands and Crowsley Park.

There is plenty of variety following the Chiltern Way for some of the way. There are historic cottages, a former deer park and plenty of flora and fauna to enjoy. This walk is particularly delightful in Spring when the bluebells are spectacular.

For refreshments there is the Bottle and Glass Inn.

The walk is mainly on good paths, with short sections on country lanes. There are no stiles but some gates and a couple of short, steep climbs. Some paths may be muddy after rain.

A lovely varied walk on country lanes, over farmland, through sections of woodland and along a lovely section of the River Thames.

The walk also visits the village of Shiplake where you could stop for refreshments at The Plowden Arms or further on the route The Baskerville Pub. You will be travelling on mainly good paths on the Chiltern Way Berkshire Loop and the Thames Path for some of the way.

There are no stiles and only one moderate climb.

This delightful longer circular walk will give you lots of variety travelling over farmland, through lovely beech woods (with bluebells in spring), old villages and a beautiful section of the Thames Path.

The Thames path takes you between Sonning and Shiplake where you can enjoy the meandering River Thames, beautiful water meadows and copses with plenty of wildlife to look out for.

For refreshments on route there is The Flowing Spring at Playhatch or a short distance away north of the village is the Bottle & Glass Pub.

On the walk there are a couple of small climbs plus some stiles, gates and steps. There are a couple of short sections on road and road crossings to deal with so care is needed. Parts of this walk can be very muddy after wet weather and may even be flooded at times.
