Essex Walks
Starting from the historic town of Rochford, these walks combine riverside scenery with a wander through town and surrounding countryside.
Both routes take you through Rochford itself and its riverside park before following stretches of the beautiful River Roach, offering peaceful waterside views and plenty of fresh air.
The shorter option makes a relaxed circular loop, passing the old Stambridge Mills and returning to town.
The longer of the walks ventures further east along the Roach, reaching the village of Stambridge and adding extra riverside miles, along with several pub stops if you fancy refreshments.
With Rochford railway station close to the start, these walks are easy to reach and offer a rewarding mix of town, river and countryside.

This is a short circular walk from the town of Rochford.
You'll visit the town itself and it's park, as well as heading out on a loop that walks alongside the River Roach for a while and passes the derelict Stambridge Mills.

Very industrial in places. Not what i am looking for.
Not the most prettyist of walks, walking alongside an industrial site on a fair part of the foot path walk. End part of walk was beautiful!
Walk information
This second route is a long and interesting circular walk from the town of Rochford.
As with the first walk, you'll stroll around the town itself, visiting it's River Roach park, and you'll head out on a long walk alongside the River Roach before reaching a nice pub towards the end of the route.
However, it then also heads out much further to the east of the town, enjoying plenty more walking alongside the River Roach, visiting the village of Stambridge and passing by two more pubs along the way if you want refreshments.

First-hand experiences
It was very long walk, you had to walk along a hill for very long time but walk took us 3.15 mins in total parking in the train station car park, lovely seeing horses.
Nice to have 2-3 pubs to stop on route for a drink and loo stop. I loved the walk and managed it in around 2.45mins, with a 10 mins drink in The Royal Oak. Some parts of the route were very overgrown and paths were narrow, so wear long trousers!
