Southend-on-Sea Walk & Route Map

This is more of a family day out than a walk as such, and a stark contrast to our usually peaceful walking adventures in the countryside.

Southend on Sea is a traditional seaside resort town and on this route you'll expect lots of strolling along the beach, a large aquarium, a theme park, lots of wonderful fish and chip shops, amusement arcades, a wander through a park and an extraordinary 2.1km each way walk along the biggest pleasure pier in the world! There's also a lovely cafe bar at the end of the pier for some refreshments out at sea.

There is a fee to get onto the pier which is pretty cheap if you walk both ways, but you pay a bit more if you want to take the train one or both ways. There is also a fee to enter the Adventure Island Pleasure Park and Sea Life Aquarium, so please check their websites for details.
