There are plenty of walks for the whole family to enjoy around the ancient coppice woodland of Norsey Woods. It is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Local Nature Reserve.
This short version of the Norsey Woods walk is suitable for wheels and the less able, with solid paths underfoot.

This is the longer recommended route around the beautiful and ancient Norsey Woods.
There is an abundance of wildlife and pathways to explore which were thought to date back to the Iron Age and there is also a Bronze Age burial mound, thought to be the only authenticated one in Essex.
There are some steep slopes and it may get a bit muddy when it's wet on this longer route that is less suitable for wheels.

Nice walk but the route was difficult to follow so we did get a bit lost but it was fine in the end.
Lovely walk through the woods - actual route is difficult to follow but if you get a bit lost its absolutely fine all routes eventually lead to the car park! Wouldn't recommend for pushchairs or wheelchairs - there is a flatter route but its not very long and there are better walks elsewhere that are flatter
Pretty easy pleasant walk. In mid April seas of snowdrops and some bluebells.
