Mells Walks & Route Maps

This first Mells route is short walk in and around Mells.

It follows the line of the Mells River with a peaceful, there-and-back walk that leads to the remains of Fussell’s Iron Works, where the area’s industrial past still lingers among the stonework.

Back in the village, a local pub offers a natural place to pause, rounding off a simple but characterful walk.

This second and longer Mells route adds a bit more variety and elevation, with steady climbs, rolling countryside, and stretches along country lanes.

It moves between valley paths and higher ground, giving a fuller sense of the surrounding landscape.

The Mells River and Fussell’s Iron Works bring a link to the area’s industrial past, before the route opens out through Wadbury Valley and up towards Newbury Hill.

Colliers Way adds a gentler, level section along a former railway, before returning to the village, where a local pub offers a relaxed finish to the walk.
